Moskalenko's book is excellent! A lot of usefull insights, interesting lines and ideas! I was thinking about... I have 3 books about French, and 5 DVD's. I tink that I should start to study and play that. And perhaps been a decent player either...:-)
In his previous work '' The Fabulous Budapest Gambit'' he did so well that I started to play Budapest for a while! About French... one line that I used to play, but as white, with tremendous results is: 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nd2 Nf6 4.e5 Nfd7 5.Bd3 c5 6.c3 Nc6 7.Ngf3 Qb6 8.0-0 cxd4 9.cxd4 Nxd4 10.Nxd4 Qxd4 11.Nf3 Qb6 and now, instead the normal 12.Qa4 I prefer 12. a3!?. The idea of a3 is clear, to take control of b4 square, becase I really don't like 12.Qa4 Nc5. I get good results, like two wins against WIM :-) Ahh...and after 12.a3 Bc5 13.Qa4 0-0 loses on spot... Qh4 followed by b4 :-)
Hmmm yes interesting line. I think it's the one McDonald recommends in one of his repertoire books with white. But with Qa4. The a3/Qh4/b4 is a very nice looking trap!
When I saw Kortchnoj playing as white this line and knowing that this is the way the great Geller played like that... then... I had to study that. Interesting that computer don't likes a3!? but it's that kind of long term compensation :-)
