My 2nd round near "something vs 2600 GM ;-)
I possibly would have written a very happy blogpost had I simply chosen ..Bd7 but still I can take good things from the game. White tomorrow vs 2095 player.
Well, was a pity to don’t play Bd7. But anyway I believe that you was feeling uncomfortable after g6 and after you regreat about some choice during a game, well…it’s difficult to get the right approach again. As you had pointed out after 7.0–0 the main line is Bg4, for example 8.h3 Bxf3 9.Qxf3 e6 10.Rd1 Nbd7 11.Bd2 Re8 12.Rac1 Rc8 13.Be1 Qe7 14.Qe2 a6! As played on Ivanchuk x Carlsen 2008. After 10 . … c5 the great Botvinnik choose 11.Ba3 but after a6 12.Rc1 Qc7 13.e5 b6 14.Qe2 Bb7 15.e6 Bxf3 16.Qxf3 fxe6 17.Qe4 e5 18.dxc5 Nxc5 19.Qc4+ Kh8 20.Bxc5 Qxc5 21.Qxc5 bxc5 22.Be4 Rab8 23.Rb1 Bh6 ½–½ Botvinnik x Levenfish. Instead 11. Bg5 is very rare, the only game I found was Grabliauskas ( 2410) x Pavlovicius ( 2325), played last year when continued 11.Bg5 cxd4 12.cxd4 Nb6 13.h3 Be6 14.Rc1 Bxd4 15.Nxd4 Qxd4 16.Bxe7 Rfc8 17.Qf3 Nd7 18.Be2 Rxc1 19.Rxc1 Qb2 20.Qe3 Bxa2 21.Ba3 Qb6 22.Qc3 Be6 23.h4 h5 24.Rd1 Qc6 25.Qe3 Re8 26.Rd6 Qc2 27.Bd1 Qb1 28.Qd4 Rd8 29.Kh2 Qa2 30.Bb2 f6 31.Ba4 a6 32.Bxd7 Rxd7 33.Rxd7 Bxd7 34.Qxf6 1–0 Try to keep your mind, you will need your brain’s full action again! Good luck and my best wishes of success!
